Dec 20 | Kim Russell Updates AT on Her Paddling Life
Events/Updates:
Since June and my Colorado Trip, I have not competed in any events, as Northwest events were over for the season. My focus during this time was to push my limits creeking, and improve my technical skills. I challenged myself on harder runs such as the Little White Salmon, and Cispus River, WA. Early July, I suffered a tear in the labrum of my Right shoulder, putting me out of paddling for two months. My focus during this time was rest, rehabilitation and strengthening of my shoulder in order to avoid surgery. Therefore, I cancelled my paddling trip to Skookumchuck, BC, and decided to take a more laid back overnight trip on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon: http://wavesport.ning.com/profiles/blogs/rogue-river-trip
Currently, I am working as Physical Therapy Aide in the Dalles, Oregon, and paddling 3-4 days a week and weightlifting 3-4 days a week in preparation for upcoming competitions and events. My current goal is to increase my strength and endurance in order to perform well in winter and spring events.
In addition, I am now sponsored by Five Ten for footwear.
