Sep 26 | Ellesmere Island Expedition Successfully Completed
John Turk checked in after he, Erik Boomer and their Adventure Technology Xception Superlight paddles took one of the most intense expeditions imaginable. They're back safely and recovering. Congratulations to everyone involved in this truly epic feat.
John sent this message telling about his experience:Dear Team:
As I'm sure you know by now, Erik Boomer and I successfully completed our circumnavigation of Ellesmere Island on August 19th, after a 104 day expedition. First of all, thank you for your support. The boats were absolutely phenomenal. We put them through the most severe punishment I can imagine, and they waltzed through, performing superbly from beginning to end. Secondly, I would like to apologize for taking over a week to correspond. About 15 hours after we arrived at Grise Fiord, my body went into total collapse, with kidney failure, high blood pressure, and a host of other problems. I was treated at the local clinic, transported to Ottawa by air ambulance, stabilized at Ottawa General Hospital, and finally treated further at St Patrick's Hospital in Missoula. I am now home, healing, with my wonderful wife, Nina, in the forest in southwest Montana.Find out more about their adventure and view the pictures on their Facebook page!
